Freshwater Campaign

Freshwater connects every part of Newfoundland and Labrador. Our rivers, ponds, and wetlands support wildlife, provide clean drinking water, and shape the communities that depend on them. Despite their importance, these ecosystems face growing pressure from pollution, shoreline development, and climate change. The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society Newfoundland and Labrador Chapter (CPAWS-NL) works to protect and restore freshwater systems across the province. Through community action, education, and advocacy, we aim to safeguard the health of our lakes and rivers for generations to come. Our Freshwater Campaign brings people together to learn, take action, and celebrate the value of these vital ecosystems. From shoreline cleanups and citizen science to policy engagement, every effort contributes to stronger protection for Newfoundland and Labrador’s freshwater. Join us in protecting the waters that connect and sustain us all. Explore our projects, get involved, and help ensure a clean, thriving freshwater future for the province.
